Iran’s Ali Khamenei is a dictator in religious robes

It just wouldn’t seem right these days if a whole week went by and Iran didn’t threaten the United States in some way, shape or form.  Have no fear though; the Supreme Leader came through for us on Friday with the latest round of vitriol warmongering.

Ali Khamenei said Iran will not be deterred from developing its nuclear program, Reuters reported.  “In response to threats of oil embargo and war, we have our own threats to impose at the right time,” he said.  Everyone’s just got to love a religious leader who isn’t afraid to warn the world of impending retaliation.

But, Khamenei doesn’t just stop there.

It really wouldn’t be a complete week if Iran also failed to threaten Israel, and this week, he did a really good job of promoting terrorism with a very pointed promise. “I have no fear of saying that we will back and help any nation or group that wants to confront and fight against the Zionist regime (Israel),” Khamenei said.

When will the world wake up and see Iran for what it truly is:  a state-sponsor of terrorism.  If there were any doubts, the Supreme Leader just settled them.

I applaud President Barack Obama’s moves to completely isolate Iran by imposing stiff sanctions against the one area that it cannot afford to lose:  its oil revenue. The European Unions move to block all crude purchases will further drive the point across in Tehran. If China would step up and commit to stopping its purchases on a long-term basis, there just might be some chance of success. Unfortunately, for right now anyway, the only people that will suffer from the sanctions are the ordinary Iranian people – not their political leaders.

Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported that Khamenei’s latest barrage came during Friday morning prayers…nice touch reverend!   He added, “The war threats by the US against Iran are because the Americans are afraid of a dialogue with Iran, as their only logic to reach their aims is war and bloodshed.”

Is he confused?

It doesn’t take a long memory to recall Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s promise to remove Israel from the face of the planet.  It doesn’t require an exaggerated mind to believe that Iran would use a nuclear bomb to accomplish just that.

So Khamenei:  which country threatening war?
