Aban 5th)[October 27th] Nasser Derazshamshir(Aydin Mughanli) was sent to the Central Prison of Ardabil after having been kept in custody at Ardabil’s information office for 81 days. He had been arrested on Mordad 15th[August 6th] in Jafarabad section of Moghan region and he is charged with cooperation with foreigners, membership in groups opposing the regime and etc. The reason he has been accused of the mentioned charges is his attendance in the journalism course held by Qafqaz Media Center. This civil activist is a graduate of Baku University in political science.
Aban 6th)[October 28th] Hootan Kiyan, Sakineh Ashtiyani’s attorney, was sent to Tabriz Prison. This Azerbaijani attorney had been arrested at his office last Mehr[October].He was sentenced to imprisonment after having been tortured several times.
Aban 12th)[November 3rd] Arash Mohamadi, Siyavash Mohammadi and Behrouz Faridi, university activists, were arrested in Tabriz. At 6 a.m. the information officers entered their houses with seizure orders and arrested them after having scoured everywhere. The reason of their arrest and their charges have not been released yet. These university activists were then sent from Tabriz Information Office to Tabriz Prison on Aban 26th[November 17th].
Aban 12th)[November 3rd] the first hearing conference of 12 people of those arrested on Shahrivar 2nd[August 24th](dinner party) was held at the first branch of Enghelab Court of Tabriz. Hassan Ark, Mahmoud Fazli, Mahdi Nouri, Mahdi Hamidi Shafigh, Mousa Barzin Khalifehlou, Jamshid Zare’i, Mostafa Avazpour, Mortaza Avazpour, Aziz Pourvali, Taghi Salahshour, Vahid Sheykhbaglou, and Ahmad Riyazi Mobaraki are those Azerbaijani civil activists that were tried on this trial run by Judge Yousefi, and they defended themselves against the issued bill of indictment. They are charged with congregation and conspiracy against national security, which they all refused. Their second trial was held on Aban 24th[November 15th]
Aban 14th)[November 5th] Behnam Sheykhi, an Azerbaijani civil activist, was released from Tabriz prison on a 500-million-rial bail. He had been arrested on Mehr 20th[October 12th] in his private house in Golestan Province by the information forces of Rebat-Karim city. He had been taken to Evin Prison and was then transferred to Tabriz Information Office. This Azerbaijani activist has been severely tortured while in custody, the traces of which are quite obvious on his body.
Aban 15th)[November 6th] Abbas Lesani, a well-known Azerbaijani activist, was bailed out from Ardabil Prison on a 1000-million-rial bail. He had been arrested on Shahrivar 18th[September 9th] at the peaceful street demonstration against the destructive policies held towards the Urmia Lake.
Aban 15th)[November 6th] Eslam Aliakbarloo was released from Khoy prison on a 100-million-rial bail. This civil activist had been arrested on Aban 4th[October 26th] in Khoy.
Aban 16th)[November 7th] Behrouz Alkhani and Akbar Akbarpour, after having been imprisoned for one year, were sentenced to execution and 13 years in prion respectively. These two political activists who had been arrested last year and had been kept in solitary confinement were tried at Enghelab court of Urmia and were sentenced to execution and imprisonment on charge of opposing God through holding relationship with groups opposing the regime.
Aban 21st)[November 12th] Engineer Farid Yaghoubi, a well-known national-religious activist from Tabriz, was summoned to room no. 37 of Tabriz Prison and he was violently beaten while being investigated. Before him, Engineer Mehrfam and Doctor Farzadi had been summoned and beaten in the same ways. Engineer Mehrfam is an 80-year-old national-religious activist who has been helping the families of Azerbaijani prisoners whether political or non-political. He is a member of the association for supporting the families of Azerbaijani prisoners who has been assisting them a lot during recent years.
Aban 24th)[November 15th] Ayat Mehralibagloo and Latif Hosseyni, well-known Azerbaijani activists, were sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment each. They had been arrested last year and after being kept in solitary confinement for 9 months, they were tried at the second branch Enghelab Court of Tabriz by Judge Dolatabadi. They have been sentenced to 18 months in prison on charge of propagating against the regime, taking measures against national security, forming the illegal group GAMOH, and introducing spies to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Aban 24th)[November 15th] Hadi Hamidi Shafigh was acquitted of the charge of causing disturbance to public order and propagating against the regime. He had been arrested after the match of Tractorsazi football team vs. Sabaye Qom, and had been then sentenced to 6 months’ imprisonment and 60 lashes, which was overruled by the appellate court and he was acquitted of the mentioned charges.
Aban 24th)[November 15th] The first branch of Enghelab Court of Tabriz agreed to let 10 of the imprisoned Azerbaijani civil activists be bailed out instead of being kept in custody. Hassan Ark, Mahmoud Fazli, Jamshid Zare’i, Mostafa Avazpour, Mortaza Avazpour, Vahid Sheykhbaglou and Aziz Pourvali were bailed out on 500-million-rial bails and Mousa Barzin Khalifehlou, Mahdi Nouri and Ahmad Riyazi Mobaraki on 1000-million-rial bails. They were released from the Central Prison of Tabriz in the evening of Aban 26th[November 17th], being warmly welcomed by their families and Azerbaijani activists.
Aban 24th)[November 15th] The first branch of Enghelab Court of Tabriz refused to change the custody order of Mahdi Hamidi Shafigh(well-known university activist) and Taghi Salahshour(civil activist) to the order of bailing-out, while the very court has agreed with the bailing-out order of 10 other people in their group. These two civil activists had been arrested at the dinner party as well. They have also been charged with membership in groups opposing the regime and propagating against it on top of congregation and conspiracy against national security.
Aban 27th)[November 18th] A number of Azerbaijani civil activists who had joined to welcome the released activists were arrested. Monireh Mehryar, Behzad Kazemi, Behnam Anakhatoun and Aydin Bagherzadeh are among those who got captured by security forces, being harshly beaten, while they were returning from visiting Mostafa Avazpour. They were released after being interrogated for some hours, but during next days they have been repeatedly summoned for more interrogation.
Aban 27th)[November 18th] Davoud Khodakarami, journalist and human rights activist, was arrested by information officers in Zanjan city. This Azerbaijani activist has been several times arrested and tortured in recent years. He used to be the secretor of Islamic Society in Zanjan University before being expelled.
Aban ?) Roghayyeh Hassanzadeh was sentenced to 91 days in prison and 20 lashes on charge of causing disturbance to the public order and attending an illegal congregation. She had been arrested on Shahrivar 12th[September 3rd] on the street demonstration against the drying-up of the Urmia Lake.
Aban 28th)[November 19th]Akbar Mohajeri was bailed out from the Central Prison of Tabriz on a 300-million-rial bail. This civil activist had been arrested together with some other Azerbaijani activists on charge of putting up the posters of the activists arrested at the so-called dinner party in Tabriz. Their trial will be held on Month Dey[December/January]. They are accused of congregation and conspiracy to participate in illegal activities against the national security.
Aban 28th)[November 19th] Abdollah Sadoughi, one of the attenders of the dinner party in Tabriz, was bailed out from the Central Prison of Tabriz. Although the trials of the other activists engaged in this case have been held, no bill of indictment has yet been issued for this imprisoned journalist. He has several times gone on hunger strike as a protest to his illegal arrest and to the physical violence he has suffered from.
Aban 29th)[November 20th] Saeed Ebrahimzadeh was released from the Central Prison of Tabriz on a 100-million-rial bail. This Azerbaijani civil activist had been arrested on the street demonstration protesting to the drying of the Urmia Lake in Shahrivar.
Aban 30th)[November 21st] branch no. 6 of the appellate court of Tabriz upheld the 22-year -imprisonment verdict of the leftist Azerbaijani activists. They have been sentenced to imprisonment as follows: Shahrokh Zamani(11 years), Nima Pouryaghoub(6 years), Mohammad Jarrahi(5 years) and Sasan Vahebivash(6 months). These leftist labor activists had been arrested this Ordibehesht[May] and then they had been bailed out after their trial which was held in month Mordad[August].
Aban 30th)[November 21st] Engineer Siyamak Mirzayi was arrested by information officers in Parsabad city of Moghan and was taken to an unknown place. He is on of the well-known political activists of Moghan who has already been arrested several times.
